This is all Mendoza clone vines grown on their estate vineyard; complex bouquet shows nectarine, oatmeal, hazelnut and nougat characters, followed by a concentrated and beautifully rounded palate that is attractively fruited and finely textured. Complex and engaging, and delightful and elegant at the same time, the wine offers excellent fruit purity combined with delicately infused oak undertones and savoury nuances. At its best: 2018 to 2024. Certified organic.
Pristine stone fruits and citrus with a nicely played thread of more savory winemaking elements that make for a compelling chardonnay. The palate has a pithy, slick and smooth feel. Fruit is allowed full voice and it sings clear into the finish. (NS)
The oak is most assertive in the 2016 SV 5182 Chardonnay. Toasted grain accents grilled stone fruit and pineapple flavors, adding a smoky layer of complexity but also (and more importantly) a velvety textural component. It manages to do so in a wine that boasts only moderate ripeness and body (it's labeled at 13% alcohol) but ample concentration and fine, citrusy length. (JC)
