Light, bright yellow. Strikingly fresh citrus and green apple aromas display impressive purity and a strong mineral quality. Lively lime and lemongrass flavors deliver solid punch but carry no fat. Exotic floral and pungent herbal notes build on the long, incisive finish, which strongly echoes the lemongrass quality. This was bottled at the end of January, said Rochioli, 'because four months is really all it needs and I want the fruit to be as fresh as possible.' Most of these vines were planted in 1959. (ST)
A Rochioli wine that often gets overlooked is their impressive Sauvignon Blanc. The 2008 is a non-malolactic, flinty, grapefruity effort displaying light to medium body as well as a dry, austere, fresh personality. It should drink nicely for several years. (RP)
Firm white cherry and warmer gooseberry flavors fill this dry, rather austere vintage of Rochioli's Sauvignon. There's a slightly metallic edge to the acidity, needing some time to mesh with the wine.
