As have several other notable wineries in Argentina, Chakana has recently taken a closer look at their winemaking approach and the overal style of their wines, choosing to create wines with more pronounced mineral expression, higher acidity, perhaps a bit less richly fruited and absolutely less marked by new oak than in the past. We recently tasted through their wines and selected a few, including this chardonnay fermented and aged in a combination of concrete eggs and a smaller portion of French oak barrels. Balanced fruit combine with a lower abv to create the sense of a wonderfully balanced Chard, a wine that should do as well at table as it would in a competitive tasting of other Chardonnays. Great value.
