This so-called imperial dark ale is brewed with yams, maple syrup, vanilla and spices, and it certainly—and powerfully—expresses all those additions throughout the nose and mouth, all wrapped in a decadent, warm and satisfying package. It’s not shy, drinking like a liquid sweet-potato pie with additional notes of toasted brown bread, caramel malt, plum and cocoa powder. It might sound like a lot to handle, but all of the characteristics are harmonious and wholly integrated into the rich, robust mouthfeel. The evolving finish is a roller-coaster ride of flavor, from sweet dark fruits to rich syrups and finally arriving at a final toasty, dry spice
