There is a touch of matchstick character on the floral and white orchard fruit-scented nose. There is good cut and excellent intensity for a wine of this level as the vibrant flavors possess a lovely texture before concluding in a linear, long and well-balanced finale. This is a first-rate Bourgogne and should be capable of rewarding 3 to 5 years of bottle age. *Outstanding*
There will be a painfully small quantity of Bourgogne Blanc this year from Domaine Roulot, but the wine has turned out very well indeed. The bouquet is bright and quite complex for its level, wafting from the glass in a gently reductive mix of apple, hazelnut, chalky soil tones, citrus zest and a bit of crystalline minerality. On the palate the wine is medium-full, crisp and focused, with perfectly respectable depth and lovely backend energy and grip on the long and zesty finish. A very pretty Bourgogne. (Drink between 2014-2022)
The 2013 Bourgogne Blanc has a light, cockle shell-tinged bouquet with pleasant granitic scents. The palate is brisk and citric on the entry, a pleasant sharpness here, not long, but brimming with freshness, delivering a touch of sea salt and sour lemon on the aftertaste. Drink this over the next two or three years. (NM)
