The fruit is beginning its transition from primary to secondary with spicy red and black fruit trimmed in noticeable but not intrusive wood that slides into still very fresh and vibrant medium full flavors that possess good if not outstanding phenolic ripeness and fine length. The only detraction of note is that there are slightly drying wood tannins on the finish that cause it to come up a bit shorter than it otherwise might and the mild dryness also compromises the balance just enough to be noticeable. In sum, this is quite seductive from nose to mid-palate but doesn't quite have the depth and length to play with the best in the range. Still, this is aging gracefully and should continue to improve.
