I was really impressed, and surprised, by Il Borro's Pian Di Nova. Clearly unfiltered, the wine shows bright fruit aromas, something suggesting Syrah's occasionally savory tendency, though without any of the intense spicy or tar like qualities. The palate shows such delicacy and freshness to the red fruit, along with discreet, balanced tannins which provide for an elegant texture. I don't collect Tignanello or Sassicaia, and do not often drink much Tuscan wine (super or otherwise), but this wine stands out.
