The reserve the nose displayed from barrel has been replaced by an earthy yet very fresh and broad set of aromas of blue and red fruit plus violet and spice hints that introduce velvety and full flavors that are at once generous and delicious with good detail and plenty of mouth coating sap. There is excellent material here that confers a textured and sweet mouth feel.
(Barrel Tasting) Mid-crimson, lively, fruity, soft and charming. Sweet and flattering. Very easy and gorgeous. Fresh and lively. Just a hint of oak. Very pleasing. Good Value. 17.5/20 Points (JR)
The 2005 Gevrey-Chambertin La Petite Chapelle offers ripe black cherry with a pleasantly bitter note of cherry pit and hints of lily in the nose; a deep, clean, meaty richness on the palate, with a plush texture; and macaroon and vanilla suggestions from the toasting of its 50% new barrels. (DS)
Medium red. Musky aromas of raspberry, pepper and earth. Supple and subtly sweet, with a light touch to its soil-driven red fruit flavors. Finishes with slightly dry tannins but good length. Late note of coffee. (ST)
