The 2014s are not yet in bottle. The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon S.L.V. Estate-Grown has a dense purple color, a big, sweet kiss of crème de cassis, licorice and spring flowers. It is full-bodied, opulent and not far off the high standard achieved by the 2013. This is a full-bodied, voluptuous wine that should drink beautifully for the next 20-25 years. (RP)
A wine of raw, intense power, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon S.L.V. is incredibly promising. Tasted from barrel before bottling, the 2014 opens with a beguiling mélange of dark stone fruit, violet, lavender, licorice and menthol. Beams of supporting tannin give the S.L.V. its energy and vertical sense of proportion. Today, the 2014 looks like it will be slow to come around. All the elements are in place for the 2014 S.L.V. to be a more than worth follow up to the epic 2013. (AG)
The rocky soils at the Stag’s Leap Vineyard produced a 2014 cabernet with fresh cut to its rich black fruit. Oak dominates the wine until air begins to bring out the detail, taking it toward vinous scents, along with notes of conifer and eucalyptus that add to the breezy freshness. For the cellar.
0 Estate-grown, this wine is juicy and expansive, with an approachability that makes it instantly pleasing on the palate. Black currant, graphite and dark-chocolate flavors meet brushy dried herb and toasted oak, integrating into a lengthy finish. (VB)
Presents a harmonious mix of supple dark berry, licorice, spice, cedar, mocha and gravelly earth notes, maintaining a persistent push on the finish, where the flavors are delicate. Best from 2020 through 2030. (JL, Web only-2017)
