The 2015 Chardonnay Point Rouge is a wine of incredible intensity with notes of apple butter, white flowers, crushed rocks and wet stones intermixed with peach, marmalade, citrus oil and brioche. Incredibly rich, dense and displaying potentially one of the longest aftertastes I’ve ever experienced with a Chardonnay, this wine should be close to perfect when released in a year or so. Both the 2015 and 2014 are 10- to 15-year wines, but extremely difficult to find in the marketplace. As I have mentioned in the past, readers should note the slight greenish hue to all of the Peter Michael Chardonnays, which seems to be a healthy sign of high-quality fruit and the chlorophyll from the vines.
