Coming from 26-year-old vines and offering up beautiful density and concentration with a pretty, elegant profile, the 2011 Pinot Noir Duende Gold Coast Vineyard has perfumed, complex aromatics (strawberry, flowers, forest floor), brilliant purity and a great finish. There’s some tannin and structure to integrate, yet it’s brilliant even now. Enjoy this gorgeous Pinot over the coming decade. Drink 2014-2023. Paul Lato continues to knock it out of the park and I can’t say enough about the quality coming from this estate. Across the board, the wines show classic, varietally correct profiles that always show finesse and elegance, yet back it up with layers of fruit and texture. (JD)

Vivid ruby-red. Perfumed aromas of red berries, potpourri and Asian spices. Juicy and precise, offering seamless raspberry and cherry flavors and a hint of blood orange. Puts on weight with air and finishes sweet, supple and long, with no tannins to get in the way of immediate drinking. That said, this wine has the concentration to age. These are all Martini clones, Paul Lato told me. (JR)
