A hint of seashore adds depth to the flavors of peaches and cream, apple, lemon cake and pastry. Shows beautiful harmony and focus as this unfolds through the long, stony aftertaste. Drink now through 2024.
The 2014 Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot, which comes from two parcels, has a complex and engaging bouquet with resinous aromas filtering through the citrus lemon and peach scents. There is a lovely definition here. The palate is fresh and vibrant with a keen thread of acidity, well integrated oak and a tempting roundness. With impressive weight on the finish and a mischievous dab of ginger, this is a very well crafted Chassagne that should give much pleasure over the next decade.(NM)
A slightly riper nose offers up notes of apricot, pear, apple, lemon peel and soft floral nuances. There is a bit more volume to the lush but evidently powerful medium weight plus-sized flavors that coat the palate with dry extract on the borderline rustic finale. Note that this big-bodied effort could be enjoyed young if desired.
