There is enough reduction present to render an evaluation of the nose challenging. By contrast there is good freshness to the rich, generous and precise medium weight flavors that offer a velvety mouth feel before culminating in a harmonious and vibrant finale that offers good depth and very fine length.
The 2015 Vosne-Romanée Village offers dark berry fruit laced with bay leaf on the nose. Compared to others, it feels a little withdrawn initially, only reluctantly opening with encouragement. The palate is medium-bodied with quite tensile and firm tannin. This is a serious and quite assertive village cru with good density and sinew, perhaps at the expense of finesse and poise towards the finish. Afford this a couple of years in bottle to shave its edges - it feels a bit "curmudgeonly" at the moment.(NM)
