Ripe, elegant and attractively fresh aromas feature notes of plum, dark currant, anise and floral hints. There is a lovely minerality and energy to the utterly delicious middle weight flavors that possess the natural elegance of a fine Chambolle, all wrapped in a beautifully complex, balanced and persistent finish. This is an excellent Chambolle villages that is worth checking out.
Matured in 40% new oak, the 2015 Chambolle-Musigny Village has another tightly-wound, you might say "tight-lipped" bouquet that needed a lot of encouragement from the glass, only reluctantly offering blackberry and briary aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, chalky tannin. To me there is a little shrillness in this Chambolle-Musigny, the acidic line attacking rather than interwoven through the dark berry fruit. The finish feels grippy in the mouth, missing the rondeur you expect from this appellation, especially at village cru level. I would like to reassess this once in bottle.(NM)
