The outrageously rich 2009 Ermitage Le Reverdy blanc (a 70-case blend of 80% Marsanne and 20% Roussanne) possesses honeyed marmalade notes intermixed with hints of candle wax, quince, white currants and ginger. Unfortunately, it will be difficult to latch on to a bottle of this delicious white given the tiny production. (RP)
Ripe and concentrated, but very pure and nicely defined, with the core of chamomile, salted butter, creamed melon, white peach and pear notes all held in check for now with a strong quinine edge. Should unwind with moderate cellaring. Best from 2012 through 2018. 66 cases made. (JM)
(made from a 50/50 blend of marsanne and roussanne): Bright gold. Complex, fragrant aromas of peach pit, melon and candied orange, with musky herb and mineral qualities gaining power with air. Lush and expansive on the palate, offering intense pit fruit and anise flavors lifted by zesty minerality. Rich but lithe wine with excellent finishing clarity and a persistent note of dried citrus fruits. (JR)
