The 2012 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Perrieres comes across more tight-lipped than Les Bousselots on the nose: earthier and broody with hints of mulberry and mushroom developing in the glass. The palate is crisp and taut with racy acidity, immense structure and a more sauvage finish laced with tobacco. Much more masculine in style, this is a premier cru to bunker down for several years. Chevillon's 2012 Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Perrieres is striking. Iron, smoke, dark red fruit and menthol blossom in the glass as the wine fills out beautifully. The 2012 is wonderuflly complete, with great balance of fruit and structure. Readers will have to be patient with the 2012, but it is fabulous. (AG)
Good dark red. Liqueur-like ripeness to the black raspberry and blackberry aromas, supported by good rocky energy. Sweeter than the Bousselots, but with excellent juicy acidity to frame the dark berry and chocolate flavors. Dense, energetic wine with broad, chewy tannins and good finishing mineral energy. (ST)
This offers another step up in aromatic elegance with its ultra-pure red currant, cherry and wet stone suffused scents. There is plenty of minerality to the middle weight flavors that possess a lovely intensity on the vibrant, saline and well-balanced finish that is overtly austere. I like the mouth feel as there is plenty of sap to buffer the firm tannic spine.
