Allen Meadows writes: "Denis Thomas, who is a co-director of this extended family-owned corporation, explained that 2005 was a very small harvest, especially in the Hautes Côte where the domaine's extensive holdings were hit by early season hail. He further noted that the crop was perfectly clean and very ripe so there was limited chaptalization. And his succinct summary opinion? '2005 is a great vintage.' Fans of the Thomas wines will see that many of the wines that domaine is known for are not reviewed and that is because of the sale of a huge 18 ha block of vineyards to a joint venture partnership of Domaines de Montille and Dujac abetted by certain private investors that provided capital for the purchase."
