Château d'Armailhac was acquired by Baron Philippe in 1933 and went through a series of name changes--including Mouton-Baron-Philippe--before being renamed Château d’Armailhac in 1989. It lies just adjacent to Mouton Rothschild on the north and east, with 173 acres of vines boasting a terroir similar to that of its fabled sister estate. The 1953 vintage was special for Baron Rothschild, as it marked the 100th year since the Mouton Rotschild estate was acquired by the family.
