The 2015 Laventura Tempranillo was sourced from a number of 40- to 80-year-old vineyards in Rioja Alavesa. The grapes were destemmed, fermented with natural yeasts in a concrete vat and aged in 500-liter oak barrels for 12 months. It has good fruit, contained ripeness and spicy and licorice aromas. None of the wines show any influence from oak. They show a good use of the barrels, always larger sizes to keep some fruit in wines like this. It's a great varietal example with very fine tannins and an elegant texture. (LG)
