An exceptionally pretty nose that is quite elegant with its mélange of red pinot, blue berry and wet stone aromas that merge seamlessly into rich and relatively full-bodied flavors that possess good volume and a seductively textured mid-palate thanks to the abundance of dry extract that buffers the firmly tannic spine on the mildly austere finish. This is a classic Sentiers in the mode of a mini Bonnes Mares.
The 2009 Chambolle-Musigny Sentiers needs a little time in the glass to find its focus, but when it does the aromas and flavors radiate nicely in this pretty, beautiful wine. This is one of the more restrained wines in this lineup, with silky minerality supporting layers of bright, high-toned fruit. I very much like the sense of harmony here. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024. (AG)
