A distinctly sauvage, even animale nose of pungent earth, underbrush and humus add breadth to the very somber dark berry fruit aromas. There is good richness and power to the moderately concentrated medium-bodied flavors that possess much better phenolic maturity to the structural elements, all wrapped in a long, mouth coating and lingering finish. This is not a great example of the appellation in the context of the vintage but it's certainly very good and it should offer a decade or so of upside development potential.
Bright medium red. Wild aromas and flavors of redcurrant, Asian spices and patchouli. Supple and nicely sweet but not particularly fleshy, with strong acidity accentuating the wine's spicy character and giving grip to the finish. (ST)
