Once again reduction pushes the fruit to the background. There is excellent punch and detail to the equally saline-inflected but more refined medium weight flavors that possess better complexity on the lilting and well-balanced finale. This graceful effort is very Chambolle in style and it should drink well on the younger side if desired.
Deep red-ruby. Strawberry, spices and dark chocolate on the nose, complemented by a smoky element and lifted by a floral topnote. Nicely fat and sweet but also quite detailed. Despite its youthful medicinal reserve, this will be a charmer. Finishes tasty and long, with integrated tannins. (ST)
Lush, oaky nose, quite powerful for Chambolle. Rich and juicy on the palate with broad fruit and ample succulence. A touch flashy for the village, but the fruit is hard to resist.Drinking Window 2018 - 2028.(SB)
Ironically, despite this being a full half point lower in octane than the Chambolle AC, this was showing more of a roasted personality and really is quite a dead-ringer for a 1990 red Burgundy. The bouquet is a ripe blend of baked black cherries and plums, chocolate, game, soil and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and plush, with a good core, a fruit-driven personality and a long, ripely tannic finish. This is quite adolescent today and perhaps more precision and soil signature will emerge with bottle age, but today, it does not seem to be a step up from the AC. (Drink between 2021-2050)
The 2015 Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru Les Fuesselottes showed a similar reduction on the nose as the Les Cras when I tasted it from barrel. The palate is medium-bodied with chewy tannin on the entry, moderate depth but feels rather static towards the finish. I would be looking for more depth and complexity once this is in bottle. I found myself more impressed by some of the top-perfuming village crus. Let's see how this turns out.Jean-Nicolas Méo has overseen a négociant branch of Domaine Méo-Camuzet for several years now under "Méo-Camuzet Frère et Soeurs."
