The two prior bottles that I had had of the '89 Clos de la Roche didn't really impress me, at least not by the illustrious standards it routinely achieves but this bottle was a stunner, displaying the first hints of sous bois and floral/vegetal hint that added nuance and continues onto the sweet, delicious, sappy and mouth coating flavors that are absolutely lovely and impressively long. This is a relatively understated wine that is still cruising though there is no additional upside to be had. Drink now and over the next decade.
