Sleek, focused and complex, this has floral raspberry and toasty spice aromas and layered flavors of black cherry, smoky sage and licorice that linger against lively tannins. Drink now through 2026. (TF)
The 2014 Zinfandel from Dry Creek Valley is a softer style than the Rockpile, with less obvious minerality, but in a way seductive and consumer-friendly. The wine shows loads of upfront, forward blueberry and black cherry fruit, medium to full body and a nice pure, long finish. A rather classic Dry Creek Zinfandel, it should drink well for 7-8 years. Aged in a majority of French oak, and sourced from several vineyards, including many estate, this 100% varietal wine displays a subtle nuance of smoky leather, berry bramble and soft, integrated oak. It's rich, yet balanced with a peppery finish. (VB)
