A very solid yet surprisingly dry wine whose varietal credentials have a hard time asserting themselves in the face of the slightly dried fruit, chocolaty aspects that show up in the nose, the wine does not lack, however, for complexity. Its background notes of cola, lavender and celery leaves add their own interesting sides to the wine but, even in the finish, it never quite finds the fruity energy to claim higher marks.
Blended of 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Franc, the deep garnet-purple colored 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Spring Mountain District opens with a cassis, plums and black cherries nose with cedar, dried roses and black soil hints plus a touch of charcuterie. There are plenty of baked berries and earthy layers in the full-bodied mouth, with a chewy backbone and savory finish. (LPB)
The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon (Spring Mountain) is ripe, forward and juicy, all qualities that can be enjoyed upon release. The flavors are dark and bold in this decidedly sumptuous Spring Mountain Cabernet from Barnett. (AG)
