The Barolo San Lorenzo is the estate’s flagship, and it is magnificent in 2006. Layers of dark fruit, spices, menthol, plums new leather and anise emerge from this deep, baritone Barolo. The aromatics and flavors are similar to the Gramolere but the San Lorenzo shows greater freshness and sheer vibrancy to the fruit which will allow it to age gracefully in the coming years. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2031. (AG)
This is lovely, featuring cherry, licorice, leather and spice aromas and flavors on a round, inviting frame. There are tannins and fresh acidity for support, followed by a long mineral aftertaste. Best from 2013 through 2030. 400 cases made. (BS)
