From the winery: "November 8, 2006 - The first development on this site was in 1984. We have planted and replanted this Atlas Peak vineyard over the years, at an elevation of 1,450 feet. The lack of soil and volcanic rock required several loads of dynamite to prepare for planting. This vineyard is in transition with CCOF and will be certified organic in 2007. Like the 2002, this vintage has amazing power and concentration, reflecting the low yields and small berries. Very ripe fruit and caramelized aromas. Once again a big, mountain tannin, reflective of growing conditions. Big dark fruit, cola and dark chocolate with a spicy, dried cherry finish."
