I have never understood why Javillier likes to use so much new oak with this wine because while there is less wood influence than usual here, it is hardly invisible. Still, the nose manages to remain elegant and beautifully complex, leading to rich, pure and detailed flavors that possess good if not exceptional concentration and a powerful, reserved and precise finish. The oak should integrate with time and this is an impressive if not truly exceptional effort.
