The 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon 7 is a huge, dark brooding wine full of mountain tannin. It reveals fabulous intensity and raciness in its black fruit, smoke, incense, menthol, smoke and tar. The tannins remain quite muscular and tannic. This powerful wine needs a few more years in bottle. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2026. (AG)
Another wonderful Cabernet from this fine winery, which manages to finesse Spring Mountain's notorious tannins. While it's diamond hard and dry, with a brittle minerality, it's extravagantly lush in blackberry, cherry, cassis and licorice fruit, accented with 95% new French oak. Lay it down for a good 6–8 years. *Cellar Selection*
