The Garnacha (Grenache) revolution continues in Spain, the country that perhaps has the most legitimate claim as the birthplace of this grape variety. The diverse granite and quartz dominant terroirs of the Gredos mountain range outside of Madrid is one of the hotbeds for top quality Garnacha, and Marañones one of its leading producers. This particular bottling, produced from San Martín de Valdeiglesias, has a touch of Morate, a white grape, blended in. It's a delicious example of the tension between fruit, tannin, acidity and non-fruit terroir/mineral driven notes present in the best of these wines. Delicious!
