1995 was the first vintage where Angelo Gaja had total control over the viticulture and vinification of these Brunello di Montalcinos. This wine is spectacular, and among the finest I tasted from this vintage. The 1995 Brunello di Montalcino Rennina's dense dark ruby/garnet color is followed by a superb nose of chocolate, mocha, cedar, smoke, jammy berry, cherry, and strawberry fruit. This full-bodied, sweet, ageworthy offering exhibits super-extraction as well as high tannin. Flamboyant, it will be even better with 2-3 years of cellaring, and should last for two decades. This is an exceptionally impressive Brunello from Angelo Gaja. (RP)
Solid, dark garnet. Open, expansive aromas of plum and tar; fresh and lightly smoky. Very good weight and volume on the palate, with the acidity and firm tannins providing shape and vigor. Finishes with some warming alcohol and noteworthy texture. (DT)
Gorgeous red. Enticing aromas of spice, berry, leather and cedar follow through to a full-bodied palate with silky tannins and a long, long finish.
