Poggio Antico's superb 1995 Brunello di Montalcino is forward and soft, with a deep ruby/plum/garnet color, and a sweet bouquet of licorice, smoke, and jammy cherry fruit. Rich and full-bodied, with excellent concentration, but amazing accessibility and precociousness, it can be drunk over the next decade. (RP)
Full, fresh garnet. Sweet, expansive nose of plum and licorice shows the customary aromatic finesse of the house. Supple, velvety, and elegant, with a sweet plummy flavor. Offers consistent texture from entry through to the firmly tannic, long finish. I have not yet tasted the 1995 Riserva of Paola Gloder, but this wine suggests that this is the best vintage for Poggio Antico since 1985. (DT)
An elegant Brunello, with cherry and berry character, yet slightly reductive. Medium-bodied, with silky tannins and a fresh finish. (JS)
