The bouquet is dark and serious, with brooding black-cherry, leather and cedar aromas. In the mouth, flavors of black plums, mint-menthol and tobacco—all with a foresty accent—fill the palate. On the heavy side of medium-weight, with a supple texture, it has a long, toasty finish with fine tannins.
Capturing the curranty, loamy character featured in the better Caymus Cabernets, this generously oaked wine is supple and fleshy in feel, and its pleasant flavors follow the nose to a tee. It shows a bit of tannin at the finish and should age well for a few more years.
Tasted from magnum. Aromas of fresh dill and toast join ripe cherry and blackberry, with a touch of anise and sage. Elegantly styled, with a hint of sassafras, ending with ripe, integrated tannins. (JL, Web-2008)
