95 points and a Highly Recommended designation from the Wine Spectator: "Smooth, rich and harmonious, exhibiting wonderfully integrated ripe, spicy cherry, currant and wild berry flavors shaded with just-right notes of toasted oak. Has an amazingly long, full-bodied finish. A delectable wine from a winery specializing in Zinfandel. 400 cases made." (07/97) According to Robert Parker: "One of the new vineyard sources for Turley Cellars is the Duerte Vineyard (planted between 1895 and 1898) near Oakley in Contra Costa County. The dark-colored 1995 Zinfandel Duerte Vineyard (15.2% alcohol) reveals rich, spicy, red and black fruits, along with notes of loamy earth, minerals, and herbs. The wine possesses admirable ripeness, sweet fruit, and medium to full body ... it will offer delicious, plump drinking for the next 4-6 years. The 1995 Zinfandels are the products of extraordinary vineyards and genius winemaking - no doubt about it."
