Tasting Notes

93 points Wine Spectator: "Weaves together a complex array of rich black cherry, ripe plum, wild berry and floral notes, all sharply focused, finishing with firm tannins and wonderful length. Best from 2002 through 2010." (01/2000) 90 points Robert Parker: "This Bordeaux-inspired blend is the finest wine I have tasted from Swanson since they let winemaking consultant Helen Turley depart a few years ago. The dense ruby/purple-colored 1997 Alexis (3,400 cases) offers an attractive nose of blackberry, cherry, loamy soil, licorice, and vanilla scents. With medium to full body, a creamy, fleshy texture, sweet tannin, low acidity, and admirable extraction, it is impressive and ageworthy. Moreover, it has not been excessively acidified. Consume it over the next 10-12 years." (01/2000)
