This uncut, barrel-strength bourbon is bold and flavorful. The caramel aroma is rich and luxe. On the palate, it’s quite tannic and drying, but the flavor shines through, showing toffee, caramel and dried cherry, with a spicy finish of clove, dried fig and date. The alcohol feels remarkably balanced despite the high proof. It needs no adornment: just add a chunk of ice and enjoy. (KN)
If Picasso sketched bourbon, it would look like Booker’s, with deep golden and auburn hues. But higher-proof color can deceive. Not here. Think bourbon warehouse: oak, caramel, tobacco leaf, cinnamon, vanilla; floral with hints of honey and blueberry. And then it really comes alive. Oh, baby! Candy corn, crème brûlée, maple syrup, nutmeg, and traces of chipotle and cayenne. The proof strength doesn’t show. I recommend this batch neat for full, unrelenting flavor. Here's your introduction to the Beam nose: cinnamon, hot and dusty corn, short snort of vanilla. A sip gives you powerful but smooth corn and more cinnamon, finely polished oak, a hot twist of mint. Alcohol heat permeates this barrel-proof monster; water it carefully to bring out more of the mint and thin the corn. Bourbon right from the barrel, as Booker Noe liked it. Proof of batches varies between 120 and 130.

Booker's is the king of bourbons that you can find year-round. When other reviewers say you need to tame it with a whip and chair, they are not kidding. Ice is strongly recommended.
