The story of Louis Martini is a key chapter in Napa's winemaking history. Genovese immigrant Louis Martini established his first business in 1922, smack in the middle of Prohibition, meaning he was limited to making "sacramental and medicinal" wines. Once Prohibition was overturned, Martini became one of the first winemakers in California to produce vintage, varietal table wines in quantity and at reasonable prices. Sourced from prime vineyards in Napa and Sonoma, including Monte Rosso in the mountains above Sonoma Valley and La Loma in the cool Carneros district south of Napa. Made with care and expertise, Louis Martini wines age exceptionally well. With their hallmark of impeccable balance, older Louis Martini Cabs are a testament to why Napa Valley became part of the world's winemaking pantheon.
