93 points Wine Spectator: "A rich, massive, mouthful of Cabernet with loads of cassis, currants, plum and cherry that's very bright, concentrated and intense, framed by tannin and oak. A long-termer with an underlying feel of elegance. Another terrific Artist Series." (11/87) From the winery: "Kenwood Vineyards’ tenth Artist Series Cabernet Sauvignon release features "Pacific Coast," by Alan Wolton. The grapes from the 1984 harvest are classic Sonoma Valley vintage, marked by a moderately warm growing season and optimum levels of grape maturity and composition. The grapes are a blend of the finest small lots of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc from four separate vineyards. Each vineyard lot was kept separate during the fermentation in stainless steel and aging for two years in Nevers Oak barrels. The finished wine exhibits a rich berry-like nose and deep flavors that reflect the superior vineyards in Sonoma Valley. Both Merlot and Cabernet Franc add a softness to the wine and an added degree of complexity to its flavors."
