92-93 points Robert Parker: "The 1995 Pinot Noir Hirsch Vineyard exhibits an opaque ruby color, a beefy, black fruit, spicy, earthy-scented nose, full body, plenty of tannin, and admirable intensity and richness. The wine needs 1-2 years of cellaring, but it promises to keep for a decade. Only 250 cases were produced from this Sonoma Coast vineyard. Kistler's impressive Pinot Noir portfolio was launched with the 1994s, which will be released in the marketplace over the next 5-6 months. The 1995 Pinot Noirs appear to be as good as the impressive 1994s." (12/96) 90 points Wine Spectator: "Dense, dark and concentrated, with a tightly wound core of wild blackberry, cherry, anise, sage and spice. A unique expression of Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir. Finishes with a slight tannic bitterness and a dash of new oak. New from Kistler. Best from 1999 through 2002. 164 cases made." (06/98)
