An exceptionally pretty and elegant red pinot fruit nose merges seamlessly into wonderfully pure, sappy, dense and sweet flavors that display excellent detail and fine finishing persistence. This is a notably elegant wine that offers first class balance and fine harmony of its elements. Highly recommended.
The 1997 Pinot Noir Allen Vineyard (planted in 1972) exhibits a light ruby color, followed by an attractive, jammy strawberry and toasty oak-scented nose. Medium-bodied, with zesty acidity, and a crisp, tart finish, it should drink well for 5-6 years. (RP)
Medium red. Complex aromas of strawberry jam, coffee, minerals and underbrush, with a floral topnote. Rich, sappy strawberry fruit complemented by oak spice. Good but not outstanding depth. Here the acids are nicely integrated. Firm, oaky finish. The alcohol is in the low 14% range, says Cabral. (ST)
Light in color, though blessed with ripe, pleasant black cherry, blackberry, strawberry, cedar and herb notes that gain complexity and nuance. (JL)
