From Robert Parker: "Both the 1989 and 1990 wines have consistently scored slightly higher than indicated in my original reviews. I have noted before that after years of mediocrity, Gazin began to move in a positive direction beginning with the 1988 vintage. Even wines from more difficult years, 1992, 1993, and 1994, have been well-made. The lovely, forward 1989 possesses a dark ruby color with no amber at the edge. The big, sweet nose of cherry fruit, cedar, spice, herbs, and caramel is followed by a supple wine with excellent concentration, low acidity, and sweet tannin in the round, generous finish. The wine is close to full maturity, yet promises to drink well for another decade."
