This house makes rather restrained yet rich, flavorful vintage port and a very good tawny called Nimrod. Their vintage ports seem slow to develop... they have a unique mineral-scented character that gives them their own complexity and style. The 1983 is richly perfumed and fragrant, which is so typical of the ports from this vintage, and is seemingly more forward than normal. (RP)
Mid crimson with a clear rim. Aromatic, jewelly, and better than some of the 1983s. Some vigour, but no great integrity or length. Slightly leathery and a bit simple.
Slightly simple and sweet, but still very good. Deep purple, with fresh violet and berry aromas, full-bodied, with very sweet fruit flavors, full tannins and a medium finish. (JS, Web Only-1989)
