The 1998 Coudoulet rouge is dominated by the warmth and glycerin of the Grenache component. A dark ruby/purple color is followed by a jammy, sweet nose of black fruits, pepper, and spice. In the mouth, cherry jam emerges, along with a chewy, long finish. This 1998 will benefit from another 1-2 years of cellaring, and should keep for 12-15 years. (RP)
Fully mature, with truffle, cedar and shaved vanilla notes leading the way for dried cherry and currant fruit flavors. A sanguine edge frames the finish. (JM, Web Only-2010)
Deep red-ruby. Roasted red and black cherry, mint and Provencal herbs on the nose. Fatter and sweeter than the '99 but showing a bit less verve. Quite large-scaled and impressive for this bottling. Finishes with big, dusty tannins and very good length. (ST)
