Tightly structured, through it quickly reveals remarkable depth and complexity, with firm tannins wrapped around a rich, earthy core of black cherry, plum, anise, mineral and spice. Finishes long and intense. Best to give it a year in the cellar.
Good deep red. Aromas of spicy cherry, smoked meat, vanillin oak, plus a whiff of apple that reminded me of Calvados. Very concentrated but backward and disjointed, with spiky acidity giving the wine a spiny quality. Quite penetrating and dry at present, even aggressive. Very difficult to taste today, but I suspect it will come together with another 6 to 12 months in the bottle. (ST)
