K&L Notes

The Fleury rosé is made entirely of Pinot Noir from Courteron, in the southern part of Champagne. Locals proudly say that their town is closer to Chablis than Reims, and the style of wine owes as much to Burgundy as the stylish bottle does to the grand marques of Champagne. The vineyards, which are all owned by Fleury, are farmed 100% biodynamically, the strictest form of organic viticulture. The base wine is entirely from the 2012 vintage. This Champagne, composed of 100% Pinot Noir, is made by maceration, with all of the skins in contact with all of the juice. Most rosés made in this style are very big, but this one is the exception; it is very elegant. Mr. Fleury contends that his organic methods allow him to get great skins, and thus a very clean rosé as a result. Anyone who loves the pink stuff must try this at least once. In the glass it has a wonderful, fresh Pinot Noir nose of strawberry fruit and forest air intrigue. On the palate it has a great small bubble texture with magnificent depth and terroir. This is 100% Pinot Noir, made by the maceration method. All of the skins are kept in contact with all of the juice, yielding a rose not just of great color, but of aromatic generosity and flavor. This is an absolute must try for any fan of rose with its salmon/ Valentines Rose color, savory black cherry nose, poised, elegant texture and dry, mineral laden finish. A wow bottle!

If you love Brut Rose Champagnes as much as I do, then you HAVE to try this one from Fleury! With notes of elegant strawberry, vanilla and spice, all wrapped up with balanced acidity. To sweeten the deal, Fleury is a direct import, so this elegant Champagne is a great value!

Not only is the bottle design simply beautiful, this rose is quietly elegant and complex. 100% pinot noir gently pressed for the wine's pale salmon color, with light earth, well-balanced acidity & a backbone of minerality with a soft finish. This champagne is luscious & quite gorgeous. Great for a special celebration or as a very generous gift.

Capt Kirk hit the nail on the head..."like drinking sparkling red burgundy"! I love the contrast between the elegant pinot noir berry fruit and that little hint of herbaceousness that transports you to Beaune.

Not just a pretty face, the Fleury Rose is the complete package. From one of my favorite producers in our DI portfolio, this Rose is stunningly good. Elegantly powerful, nuanced and pretty.

This fine Champagne has so many things going for it. A small producer we work with directly thanks to the great work of our Champagne buyer Gary Westby. This is a Champagne Rose of pedigree; Jean-Pierre Fleury was the first grower in the Champagne region to convert to Biodynamics in 1989. This wine is 100% Pinot Noir from phenomenal estate vineyards situated on steep sunny slopes in the village of Courteron. In the bottle we find an exhibition of both power and elegance. Ripe fruits on the nose, red currants and macerated strawberries. On the palate a fine balance of fruit, acid and minerality. This is a harmonious wine. Beyond all of this, the beautiful packaging makes this bottle a great gift. Definitely one of the most eye-catching wines in the store. Thankfully this is one time that choosing a bottle for its pretty label will not lead you astray!
