Tasting Notes

This is classic Pommard, as it ought to be made. For those of you familiar with winemaker Pascal Marchand's work at Comte Armand in the Clos des Epeneaux, this should not be a surprise. Although this is not a Premier Cru vineyard, it is still one of the better vineyards in Pommard. Located just above Les Charmots, 1er Cru, it has stony white marl for soil, and a favorable exposure to the sun. This wine has a delightful cherry note on the nose, a solid mid-palate with substantial fine tannins and a lovely finish. This needs a bit of time, but will certainly reward you for cellaring some. (Keith Wollenberg, K&L Wines) 'Quite dark and very Pommard-like in character with its big fruit, flavors and yes, tannins but also good depth, length and overall density. Particularly outstanding for its appellation and especially merits your attention .' (Allen Meadows, Burghound.com)
