2009 Les Cruzelles, Lalande de Pomerol (qty: 6)
Very chewy for this appellation, with lots of tannins. Character of ripe fruit and toasted oak. It all comes together. Full and juicy on the palate.
(a blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc) Bright light ruby. Pomegranate, redcurrant and a whiff of watermelon on the floral, perfumed nose. Enters silky and graceful, with ripe redcurrant and strawberry flavors nicely lifted by hints of white pepper and mint. Finishes pure and persistent. Also from the Durantou stable of wines, this was harvested a week earlier than La Chenade as the clay-rich soil here has a higher sand content. (ID)
Thick and chewy, this muscular red delivers dark flavors of black currant, espresso and earth, with licorice and mineral accents that show good depth. Despite the tannic strength, lively acidity keeps it fresh. Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Best from 2014 through 2022. (TM)
