Bid on this bottle of 1989 Joseph Phelps "Eisele Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Although Joseph Phelps is best-known for the Insignia bottling, their Eisele Vineyard Cabernet is more than a footnote of years past. One of Napa’s most famous sites, the historic Eisele Vineyard in Calistoga was first planted in 1886. Milt and Barbara Eisele purchased it in 1969 and began selling their prized grapes to select wineries over the years, including Ridge Vineyards, Conn Creek, and Joseph Phelps. The property is now the cornerstone of Araujo Estate, and drinking Cabernet from there will cost you a lot more these days.
