The 2012 Widowmaker is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon that’s all from the estate En Chamberlin vineyard. It’s unquestionably a beautiful wine and offers just a touch of rocks funk in its classic tobacco leaf, currants, cedary spice and earth aromatics. Seamless, elegant and silky on the palate, with good acidity and a fresh, focused character, it’s a dead ringer for a gorgeous St. Julien from Bordeaux.
Coming all from the En Chamberlin vineyard and made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2012 The Widowmaker is backward and tight, with bright acidity giving lift to notes of cassis, graphite, smoked earth and lots of crushed-rock minerality. Full-bodied and concentrated on the palate, yet still showing a more elegant, focused and pure style, it won't hit maturity for another 7-8 years, and will keep for 25+. (JD) 96+
Bright medium ruby-red. Aromas of black raspberry and licorice pastille sexed up by spicy, smoky oak. Sappy and sweet in the mouth, with a powerful flavor of raspberry Creamsicle supported by a firm mineral underpinning. Finishes with serious but dusty, even tannins and outstanding lingering perfume. Very refined. (ST)
Lastly, the 2013 Widowmaker is one of the richest, more concentrated 2013s in the lineup. Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon aged in 30-40% new puncheons, this full-bodied beauty has fabulous Cabernet character and offers the essence of black cherry and crème de cassis fruits, smoked earth, and chocolate aromas and flavors. Full-bodied, seamless and elegant, give bottles 4-5 years of cellaring and enjoy over the following 10-15 years. (JD)
Bright ruby-red. Slightly stemmy complexity to the aromas of black cherry, licorice and bitter chocolate, complicated and enlivened by sexy floral and orange peel high notes. Wonderfully concentrated, silky and savory, boasting outstanding depth of dark fruit flavor with terrific lift and definition. This very suave, compellingly spicy wine really reverberates on the palate-staining aftertaste. (ST)
Ripe and rich, with powdery tannins framing a generous core of cherry, currant, cocoa and savory spice flavors that persist into a long and expressive finish. (HS)
Expressive aromas of funk, ember, moist soil, truffle, olive and high-toned dried herbs are followed by a freshly elegant and flavor-focused palate. The balance and length are exquisite. (SS)

Bright medium ruby. Knockout nose combines blackcurrant, blueberry, Damson plum, orange zest, espresso, hot rocks and smoked meat. Wonderfully fine-grained, tight wine with a savory meaty quality nicely complemented by fresh berry fruit. Lovely use of oak here. Very nicely balanced Cabernet with a strong saline quality and rich, tactile tannins. Boasts excellent length and finesse for such a big wine. (ST)
The aromas are expansive and mineral laden, with notes of earthy funk, wet stone, fire pit, graphite, peat, grilled meat and cassis. The palate is soft in texture, ripe and intense, with a compelling mixture of fruit and savory flavors that interweave through the extended finish. The balance is exquisite. (SS)
Plush, expressive and well-structured, with savory black cherry and stony mineral aromas and dense but polished licorice and espresso flavors that linger toward refined tannins. (TF)
