1985 Joseph Drouhin Echézeaux Grand Cru (qty: 1)
Mild bricking but with a still ruby center. A very pretty and well-layered nose combines notes of sous-bois, spice, dried flowers and mostly secondary red berry fruit scents. There is both good volume and richness to the seductively textured medium weight flavors that exude a subtle minerality before culminating in an ever-so-slightly warm and tangy finish. While the balance isn't perfect this is really quite good and note that well-stored examples should continue to drink well for another decade or so, perhaps even longer.
